As soon as your membership in SHRM Jacksonville is active, we encourage to join a committee of your choice. This provides you with an opportunity for personal and professional development.

The Jacksonville Chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management needs YOU! We have several standing committees that need members... even if you can't make a long-term commitment, we can use your help on one-time projects. Thank you!

How to Volunteer?

If you are interested in volunteering, complete the volunteer form at the bottom of the page which will initiate contact with a committee chairperson.

NOTE:  You must be an active member of both SHRM National and SHRM Jacksonville in order to become a volunteer.


How to Volunteer for the 2019 SHRM Jacksonville Board of Directors?

If you are interested in serving on the 2019 SHRM Jacksonville Board of Directors, complete the ONLINE APPLICATION FORMThe Nomination Committee will contact you to schedule an interview.

NOTE: You must be an active member of both SHRM National and SHRM Jacksonville in order to be eligible to serve on the SHRM Jacksonville Board.



The following is a list of the committees looking for volunteers.

SHRM Operations:
This committee is in charge of setting up meeting locations and the various logistics necessary to making the meeting a success (e.g. microphones, A/V equipment, collecting money).

Membership Committee:
This committee is in charge of assisting interested parties in obtaining membership in SHRM National and Jacksonville SHRM. It also maintains the local membership roster and mailing labels as well as organizing and hosting the new member breakfast.

Certification Committee:
This committee is in charge of coordinating certification classes for PHR and SPHR. You will assist in planning the location for classes, instructors and working with the students for the certification classes.

Legislation Committee:
This committee is in charge of tracking local, state, and federal legislation and proposed legislation that affect the Human Resources community. This committee is also charged with recruiting and maintaining Jacksonville SHRM's Grassroots effort.

College Relations Committee:
This committee is the liaison to our college chapters at the University of North Florida, Webster University, Nova Southeastern University and Florida State College at Jacksonville.

Business Partner Committee:
This committee will generate non-dues revenue by soliciting business partners for monthly meetings and the annual conference.

Community Outreach & Marketing:
This committee is responsible for managing and overseeing the marketing/public relations activities of the Chapter. Duties include promoting the chpater to the local community and building partnerships with similar organizations in North East Florida.

Programming Committee:
This committee is responsible for regular meeting programs throughout the year. Duties include arranging for guest speakers at monthly meetings and for the local HR conference.

Workforce Readiness Committee:
This committee is responsible for identifying the local impact of workforce readiness and develops workforce readiness initiatives to facilitate cooperation between SHRM Jacksonville and the local business environment.  

Diversity Committee:
This committee is charged with increasing chapter awareness of diversity issues and developing ways to capitalize on diversity in the workplace. 

Communication  Committee:
This committee is vital to keep members and prospective members informed about important chapter information. The Communications Committee assists with newsletters, press releases, and milestones. If you enjoy writing or making contacts with others in the community, consider being a part of this committee. 

SHRM Foundation Committee:
The SHRM Foundation was founded in 1966 as a 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit affiliate of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). It is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors from the HR profession, including academics, practitioners and representatives from SHRM. The Foundation funds research, publications and education to advance the HR profession and enhance the effectiveness of HR professionals. To support its important work, the SHRM Foundation conducts an annual fundraising campaign. All contributions to the Foundation are tax-deductible. The Foundation promotes research, innovation and the use of research-based knowledge. With an annual budget of approximately $1 million, it funds major research projects that have a direct and practical impact in advancing the HR profession.

SHRM Scholarship Committee:
This committee is responsible for designing and awarding scholarship programs for certification classes, membership for in transition professionals, and students.

Finance Committee:
This committee works with the Chapter Treasurer to help with collections of outstanding fees, development and collection of metrics and data, and preparation of regular metrics reports. 

Annual Conference Committee:
This committee is responsible for all aspects to the annual conference, such as, facilities, programs, registration, silent auction, room moderators, and greeters. If you would like to be involved in our Annual Conference contact the conference committee.
