Webster University - Jacksonville SHRM Student Chapter Presents
How to Coach Employees and Manage Performance

Professional advancement in any organization depends on ability, performance and contribution to the company's success. We should challenge employees to assume responsibility and to evolve into high performers.

When employees do not respond to performance goals and coaching, formal documentation and performance discussions will allow for further conversation about the issues,  how to correct concerns and potential consequences of reoccurrence.

In this interactive session, you will learn:

  • How daily interactions can provide coaching opportunities.
  • How to accurately convey goals, expectations and address policy infringements and poor performance.
  • How to prepare appropriate documentation and how to use it as a tool if performance does not improve.

Alice Velez, SHRM-SCP, SPHR is a business professional with over 25 years of experience in Human Resources.
Alice is currently the HR Manager for SanMar Corporation at their distribution center in Jacksonville, FL. As HR
Manager, Alice oversees a team of HR Professionals and serves a population of 400 employees, in addition to serving
on the HR Leadership Team. In her role, Alice develops HR policies and strategies for the entire organization of 3600
employees. In addition, she currently serves as Government Affairs Director for SHRM Jacksonville, and has served
in several roles for the Greater Miami SHRM's Board.
