Non-Profit Spotlight

NEW! This year, we will incorporate a non-profit to spotlight and support. Ready4Work is a nationally recognized program assisting ex-offenders with re-entry into the community and workforce, effectively leading clients toward a productive life. Operating with a four-pronged approach; case management, life-coaching, job training and job placement assistance, Ready4Work motivates and moves individuals to become productive, responsible citizens within the community. In continuing our mission, SHRM Jacksonville has chosen Ready4Work as its designated Conference Non-profit. We are requesting conference attendees to donate items to Ready4Work. Proceeds will benefit participants of the Ready4Work program. Donation items requested include:

  • Toiletries: shampoo, soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, etc.
  • Shoes: All sizes for Men and Women
  • Dress socks: All sizes for Men and Women
  • Items for interviewing: Interview portfolios, pencils and pens

A representative from Ready4Work will be available to accept the donations during the conference.

Volunteer Opportunities

Each year, the SHRM Jacksonville Annual Conference & Expo is made possible by volunteers. It is a great opportunity to network with your fellow HR colleagues and form lifelong friendships. You may volunteer in more than one target area and for multiple shifts as well (minimum 4 hours). Volunteers MUST be SHRM Local or SHRM National Members. During scheduling, SHRM Student Members are scheduled first, followed by professional members. As a token of our gratitude, volunteers are provided with an appreciation gift; however, we are unable to offer free registration for volunteering at this event. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact hrconference@shrmjax.org.

How to be a great volunteer!

BE AWARE: Convention Housing Scam Alert! Please be aware there are groups contacting people about housing at our 2017 SHRM Jacksonville Annual Conference. These groups are not affiliated with the SHRM Jacksonville Annual Conference, and you should not reserve your hotel guest room through these groups. They’re known as parasite companies in that they claim to be with a conference and/or the hotel, but they’re just scam artists that book rooms at a very low rate while charging you a much higher rate and collecting your credit card information for future use. A major difference is that these companies initiate contact with the guest via phone or email.

Guest rooms for the 2017 SHRM Jacksonville Annual Conference attendees should be booked at the Sheraton Jacksonville directly. Be sure to mention that you are an attendee of the 2017 SHRM Jacksonville Annual Conference.

Speaking Opportunities

You are invited to submit a proposal to share your experience and expertise with your colleagues in human resources management at the SHRM Jacksonville 9th Annual Conference and Expo. Others will benefit from your experience while you make a valuable contribution to the profession’s field of knowledge. Responses to the Call for Presentations are due to SHRM Jacksonville no later than Friday, January 27, 2017 (deadline extended). Submit your completed Call for Presentations form and supporting documentation to hrconference@shrmjax.org.
